Student Dissertation Binding this year:

The service runs from Monday 14th April till 1st May 10.00am-4.30pm, Monday-Friday (not running Good Friday or Easter Monday).
The service will operate from PN 1014 in the Peirson Study & Guidance Centre.
Pay for binding at Firstpoint and then take the receipted form up to PN1014 where your work will be bound whilst you wait.
£2.50 per copy.

Dissertations will be fastback bound with a blue or black back cover and a clear acetate front cover.

For the last 3 days of this time period we have been unable to secure the Upper Tower room with Timetabling so we will likely be operating from somewhere in the Firstpoint Foyer on those days. Appropriate signage will be placed on the Upper Tower room doors during those days to avoid confusion.

If you’re using Summon at The Hive, you’ll find there’s a glitch with this service at the moment. All University online resources are still available. You can get to the online resources via the list in your subject guide in LibGuides (libguides.worc.ac.uk). If you go to the Library Catalogue via the Student Portal you can use the Library Catalogue search box to track down books/ebooks or find ejournals via the Eresources link under the catalogue search box.
We’ll let you know when Summon’s fixed, but in the meantime this should get you around the problem.

Hello everyone. Summon is having a bad day. We’ve reported it to our providers and they are moving heaven and earth to restore the service for you. It’s not just us: several other institutions have reported problems, so at least we’re not being picked on!

Sociology second years: if you’re looking for somewhere to start on your assignment, take a look at Box of Broadcasts. I’ve created a playlist of a few programmes on housing issues including empty housing, eviction, first-time buyers, landlords, council housing, affordable housing and many more. Take a look at these and search for yourself for other programmes. Try searching for homelessness, benefits, town planning, first-time buyers or any of the great keywords on your list of housing problems. Happy viewing.

We require a small period of time to carry out some important maintenance work on the University wireless service.
This work will take place between 06:00 and 08:00 on Friday 21st February, therefore wireless services will be unavailable at St Johns Campus, Riverside, Arena and the Garage.
The Hive and City Campus are not affected.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hive entrance

Flooded though parts of Worcester may be, don’t forget that the Hive is open! You can reach it on foot coming down The Butts from the Town Centre or via the golden footbridge from Crowngate. St John’s Campus is also fully open including Peirson Advice and Guidance Centre. There are plenty of free pcs.

Whichever way you’re travelling you can keep up to date with today’s road and bridge closures here: http://bit.ly/1cvgQKX (worcestershire.gov.uk)

If you can’t make it to the Hive in this charming weather, don’t forget if you can return your books to any Worcestershire County Council Library, or you can renew them either online or by contacting the Hub on 01905 822722. To renew online log in to the student homepage and click on Library Catalogue.

Our e-resources are up and running and accessible whatever the weather. Find the information you need at http://libguides.worc.ac.uk. While your there, be sure to check out our new TV and radio service, Box of Broadcasts. Watch or listen to TV and radio from 2000, with all BBC content from 2007. ‘Singing in the Rain‘ is on there, I’ve checked. Or how about this BBC documentary all about terrible weather. Personally, I recommend this episode of Thomas the Tank Engine: ‘Splish, Splash, Splosh‘.

Stay safe.
