As of January 10th, we’re opening the Peirson Foyer and the Silent Study Zone for Out of Hours access!  This will provide a great study environment where students will feel welcome and secure.

You will have access to:

  • PCs
  • Printing
  • Vending machines
  • Social area
  • Group work area
  • Silent study spaces
  • Laptop power points
  • Wireless access

CCTV cameras are currently being installed, security will regularly patrol the areas and access will be via swipe cards from security.

Please enjoy and respect this new resource and we should be able to provide this on permanent basis.

I’m afraid we have no immediate plans to open access to book stock. As ever we’re keen to receive and act on feedback and requests and will keep a record of your comments for further consideration.

Although this is a welcome step in the right direction it stops short of what I thought 24 hour access to the library would mean. It seems we have access to some more computers and study spaces rather than the library resources. I acknowledge the library has the potential to be a more pleasant working environment at night than the current 24 hour rooms, but can I ask if there are plans to allow access to the printed matter following a trial?

Having said that I think ILS should be congratulated on taking this step and for constantly trying to improve the way we can use the resource.
