Here’s a list of useful places to find images that you can use in assignments. The websites below all contain gazillions of images that are free for you to use for educational purposes. Because legally you know, you’re not supposed to just rip the first thing you find on Google!

British Cartoon Archive

British Library Images

Dorling Kindersley Clip Art

Flickr – search for Creative Commons licensed materials and you won’t be violating copyright.

Google Images – do an advanced search and choose the option- licensed for commercial reuse.

Icon Finder -search 150,000 icons

Illustrationmundo– tons of illustrations, images and information

Morguefile – lots of free to use photos

Sciencephoto – science imagery. Watermarked photos available for free

VADS – images of everything from close ups of textiles to war propaganda

Public Art Online – images of public art. Online.

And I’ve just found another one worth a look: Wikimedia Commons: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. Over 11 million freely usable media files. Go seek!
