It’s the time of year when assessments and exams are looming large so just a few tips before you break out the highlighter pen:

  • Make notes – paraphrasing or commenting on what you’ve read aids understanding and recall
  • Say no to cramming – don’t stay up all night cramming, try to spread your revision out and get a good night’s sleep instead
  • Take it easy with the highlighter – highlighting important bits of text can help to direct your revision but be careful it doesn’t become a substitute for actually reading, understanding and taking notes!
  • Test yourself – one of the best ways to help your memory and understanding along is to test yourself periodically (it helps your brain to build connections)
